CONFIRMED: Leeds United confirm 14th summer departure as yet another player seals Elland Road exit

Tyler Adams has completed his switch to Premier League side Bournemouth to bring his time with Leeds United to an end.

The midfielder spent just one season with the Whites, but following their relegation from the Premier League last season, he has opted to sign a five-year deal with the Cherries.

The price remains officially undisclosed but reports have suggested Leeds will receive around £23million plus add-ons for the American.

Leeds signed Adams from RB Leipzig last summer for a reported fee of £20m, meaning that despite the club’s struggles in the top flight, he was one of the few players in the group to retain his value.

Leeds had hoped to keep hold of the 24-year-old as they bid to win promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking, but over the last couple of weeks it has become clear that his future was in the Premier League.

A move to Chelsea fell through earlier this month as the Blues focused their efforts elsewhere, but Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth have completed the deal without a hitch.

Adams hasn’t seen a minute of action yet this season as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, but he is on the comeback trail and he’ll be keen to make his debut for the south coast club after next month’s international break.

The 24-year-old made just 24 league appearances for United and caught the eye with a number of appearances in the middle of the park last season.

He was a big miss during the run in for the Whites, though, after picking up the aforementioned hamstring problem in March to ensure he missed the club’s last 12 games of the campaign. Leeds picked up just eight points in that time as they succumbed to relegation after three years in the top flight.

Adams becomes the 14th senior player to leave Elland Road this summer, following the likes of Jack Harrison, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, Rodrigo and Robin Koch out the door.

However, his departure leaves a big hole in the middle of the park and Leeds will be keen to bolster Daniel Farke’s squad as much as they can over the remaining two weeks of the transfer window.
