“Brilliant performance, he changed the game” – Alan Shearer in full praise of Newcastle star after superb performance in comeback win against Southampton

Alan Shearer has raved about Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson on Twitter for his performance against Southampton at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The BBC Sport pundit has noted how Wilson changed the game for Newcastle against Southampton after coming on at half time.

The Newcastle legend has said that the England international striker was “brilliant” for the Magpies in front of the home fans.

Newcastle have got the better of Southampton 3-1 at home to enhance their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

The Saints actually opened the scoring in the match on 41 minutes and went into the half-time break 1-0 in the lead.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe decided to bring on Wilson at half time.

And the striker delivered.

Wilson scored his first goal of the Premier League game in the 54 minute.

And the Englishman wrapped up the scoring for the Magpies on 81 minutes with his second and his team’s third.

The 31-year-old striker has made 17 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle this season.

Wilson has scored 15 goals and given four assists in those games.
