“Absolutely, they should sign him, He is a top, top player, He links play and scores goals”- Alan Pardew urges Forest to sign PL proven striker this January after player transfer links to City Ground

Alan Pardew thinks Nottingham Forest would be silly not to sign Roberto Firmino if they got the chance to do so.

The 62-year-old has been speaking to TalkSPORT earlier today. Pardew thinks Nottingham Forest should sign Roberto Firmino

The man who won both the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool could be heading back to England this month.

Forest have been linked with a move for Firmino, with the player seemingly unhappy in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli. The 32-year-old has only scored three goals since signing for his current club – with all of those coming on the opening day of the season.

Now, Pardew believes that if Forest get the opportunity to land Firmino this month they should be seriously thinking about it.

He told TalkSPORT: “Absolutely they should sign him. You are taking him. This is a top, top player. He links the play and scores goals. There are not many strikers who do both.

Firmino was a top quality player during his time at Liverpool and his hard work never went unnoticed among the fan base.

Forest would welcome proven striker and Brazilian fits the bill. Make no bones about it, this deal looks unlikely from a Forest perspective.

Firmino earns £330,000-a-week in the Middle East and ultimately he won’t even collect a fraction of that at Forest. Still, if you don’t buy a raffle ticket, you can’t win the prizes and Forest might be wise to ask a few questions here.

If Firmino could be added to the Forest ranks on a short-term deal perhaps he’d be capable of pushing the team on this season.

Forest do have to be careful in terms of their financial agreement with the Premier League and won’t want to be seen to be making a mockery of that.

It’s fair to say that Forest-linked Firmino can certainly play though – with his Liverpool record pretty impressive.

The man with 55 caps for Brazil scored 111 goals during eight years at Anfield and that level of Premier League experience might prove ideal for Forest.
