“Absolutely sensational, He’s looking unstoppable, He’s been their best player”- Sky Sports pundit blown hails Everton star after stunning performance in 3-0 win over Newcastle
Everton picked up another massive win in their quest to fight off relegation as Dwight McNeil inspired them to victory over Newcastle.
McNeil put the Toffees ahead with a superb individual goal. The £20m winger capitalised on a mistake from Kieran Trippier to stride forward and smash into the top corner to send Goodison Park into raptures.
It means Everton have now climbed out of the relegation zone despite their ten point deduction and actually have a big five point gap to bottom club Sheffield United.
Of course, McNeil will be the man revelling in the praise tonight and rightly so.
And some of that praise came from Sky Sports pundit Darren Ambrose, who was left seriously impressed with the former Burnley man.
“What a goal that is. Put it onto his favoured left foot and struck a wonderful strike into the top corner. No chance for Dubravka. Absolutely sensational strike. He’s been their best player. Great deliveries into the box, Trippier has got his head in his shirt because he knows he’s made an error there. He’s looking unstoppable and it’s an unstoppable strike into the far corner. Mistake by Trippier, but can’t take anything away from that goal, fantastic,” Ambrose said.
Dwight McNeil coming into his own at Everton
Some players at Goodison are really doing well under Sean Dyche now and Dwight McNeil is one of those really flying.
The strike to get the lead tonight was superb but as Ambrose says, his performance overall was absolutely excellent as well.
McNeil has not quite hit the heights he did at Burnley in an Everton shirt so far but that is coming and you have to say, he’s looking like their best player right now.
