“They probably have to digest this playoff defeat for a week or two, We will see whether I am in their plans or not”- £11m player says he doesn’t know if he is in Leeds plans for next season or not as he hints he would be open to Elland Road return

Leeds United have plenty of work to do both in terms of incomings and outgoings this summer.
The Whites are preparing for a second successive season of Championship football after losing 1-0 to Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley last weekend.
In the days immediately after Leeds’ defeat, much of the focus surrounded those who might be leaving Elland Road, with Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter among those touted for exits.
And while chairman Paraag Marathe has come out and admitted some sales will be needed, he has also been pretty bullish in his hopes for the upcoming summer and season.
Marathe has insisted money will be available to spend for Daniel Farke, while also confirming Red Bull’s lucrative sponsorship deal will also give them more flexibility in the market. Another topic in which Marathe covered in his interview with the media earlier this week was the future of the returning loanees.
Of the eight first team players who left on loan last summer, only Luis Sinisterra and Robin Koch have so far been able to secure permanent exits. After Leeds’ failure to win promotion, only two players now have the option to be able to leave on loan again, which is thought to be Jack Harrison and Marc Roca.
With Borussia Monchengladbach struggling to meet Leeds’ asking price, that means Max Wober currently faces an uncertain summer heading into the EUROs.
Wober is set to represent Austria at the tournament in Germany and in an interview with Kleinezeitung, has claimed he does not want to give his future any thought, though is still unclear what Leeds are planning to do with him.
He said: “My aim was to answer the club question before the Euros. But it is what it is now. I told my manager that he doesn’t need to call me or tell me anything in the next four weeks. I want to play in the Euros now. After that we’ll see where it goes.
“I only found out about it [Red Bull sponsoring Leeds] from the media. I am now 26 years old and no longer fit Salzburg’s profile. On the other hand, an experienced player might do them good.
“It will also depend on what they say. But they will probably have to digest this playoff defeat for a week or two. We will see how they want to position themselves and whether I am in their plans or not.
“If you’re in contact with the manager all the time, you automatically start thinking about it, start looking for an apartment, organize the move and talk to family and girlfriend about it. I just want to block it out and not worry about it.
“The Euro is a career highlight for me. My first international match and my first Champions League game will only be topped by the European Championship. If I get to play, I want to enjoy it 100 percent.”
Given Wober’s reasons for wanting a loan exit last summer, it is difficult to see him being open to a season of playing Championship football. Particularly after a good season at Gladbach. His exit also arguably left the most sourest taste in the mouth of teammates and fans, having initially been keen to help Leeds get themselves back up.
And based on Farke’s comments about Sinisterra after his permanent move was sealed, as well as Marathe’s most recent quotes on team chemistry, it is difficult to see a way back for him.
Leeds spent £11 million to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg 18 months ago and although Gladbach may not be able to afford him, hopefully someone else comes and meets the asking price.
