“I have fallen in love with this club and have given everything all season, I do not know yet what the future holds but thank you”- Jacob Bruun Larsen sends emotional message to Burnley fans amidst uncertainty over future as he admits falling in love with club during loan spell

Jacob Bruun Larsen admits he doesn’t know what the future holds in a heartfelt statement following the end of his Burnley loan spell.

The 25-year-old says he’s “fallen in love” with the Clarets after spending the season at Turf Moor, where he finished the campaign as the club’s top goalscorer with seven in all competitions.

The Clarets confirmed in its retained list that they were exploring a permanent move for the Dane, who now returns to his parent club Hoffenheim. But given Vincent Kompany’s men now find themselves back in the Championship, that might prove to be a tricky deal to get over the line.

“As the season ends I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your constant support,” Bruun Larsen wrote on Instagram.

“I was filled with sadness that the season ended with relegation but feel sure the joy can return again soon.

“To every one of you who supports us – thank you. We hear you. It means so much.

“To everyone who works for this amazing football club – thank you. This is why we are a team that will never give up.

“I have fallen in love with this club and have given everything, all season, and I feel proud to be your top scorer.

“I do not know yet what the future holds – but for now, again, thank you.”

Speaking last week, Kompany appeared hopeful of keeping hold of Bruun Larsen as well as fellow loanee Lorenz Assignon.

“They are all discussions that need to happen,” he said.

“They know we like them. I know they are happy here. I know they have enjoyed their time here, I know they’ve learned and suffered with us.

“If you saw Lorenz’s emotion in the last game [against Tottenham], that’s not a loan player. That’s someone who has bought into everything we want to do.

“After that, we have to see. Usually you go away, speak to your environment and your people and I think clarity is also important for players.

“We’ve just made sure that they understand we’ve really appreciated having them with us. This is a place that is also their home.

“We will always try and convince our best players to see this as an important place in their future.”
