Leeds fans will be laughing after Canada’s Jesse Marsch press release as they make ridiculous claim about his time at Elland Road in official press release after appointing him as new manager

Leeds United sacked Jesse Marsch back in February 2023, and the American manager is back in work after a hiatus from the dugout, confirmed as the new Canada boss.
Leeds’ status as a Championship club comes down to a number of factors from the time in the Premier League, one of them being the poor managerial decisions.
Replacing Marcelo Bielsa with Jesse Marsch was one of the mistakes that might have brought survival initially, but was a detriment to the side long-term.
Monday evening brought confirmation from Canada that their new national team manager is Marsch, agreeing with the former Whites coach this week: It comes over a year since Marsch was dismissed from the Leeds managerial position following defeat to Nottingham Forest in early February 2023.
Marsch’s first major task as Canada boss is the upcoming Copa America this summer, in a group with Argentina, Peru, and Chile.
A key issue that Leeds fans have had with Marsch ever since his departure is his public appearances in the media, justifying his position on why he probably shouldn’t have been sacked.
Leeds fans have been constantly subjected to his unchallenged opinions on the fact that the side’s metrics were ‘heading in the right direction’, with underlying numbers suggesting Leeds’ lowly position when he was sacked was only temporary and sure to change.
However, anyone watching the side could see the fundamental flaws in Marsch’s style of play that were routinely exposed by most teams in the top flight, both in and out of possession.
Now, a press release from Canada Soccer shares highlights from Marsch’s career, sugar-coating the back end of his time at Leeds:
“Marsch joined Leeds United in England’s Premier League in February 2022, and he guided them to safety from relegation in the 2022/23 season with a final-day win at Brentford. This victory saw Leeds become the only club to escape relegation when entering the final day of the season in the league’s bottom three teams.
“He then oversaw the club’s summer 2022 transfer window, where club record transfer sales were achieved. His departure came at a time when the club sat in 12th in the Premier League for non-penalty expected goals, and the club led the league in disruption of opposition passes by a large margin.”
What is not mentioned is Marsch spending £135million on signings across the summer and January to suit his style of play more, most of which were unsuccessful, with Leeds going backwards after survival.
Most Leeds fans will argue against Marsch’s and this statement’s reasoning on his credentials, knowing that despite the non-penalty xG being reasonably solid, the manner in which it came was chaotic and not organised in a way that would be sustainable in producing actual goals consistently.
Then defensively, Leeds regularly gave away big chances and were not at all difficult to bypass to get into the final third, albeit something that ended up getting worse and worse after he was sacked anyway.
