“If I had to choose one club to go up, it’d be Leeds, The Premier League is better if Leeds are in it honestly, They’re a fabulous club”- Danny Murphy reiterates desire to see Leeds win PL promotion as he makes Elland Road admission

Leeds United need a strong end to the 2023/24 Championship season if they are to secure automatic promotion

Danny Murphy has reiterated his hope that Leeds United will gain promotion this season. The Whites are a serious risk of throwing away a top-two finish after picking up just one win in their past five matches.

Ipswich Town, Leicester City and United have all struggled to hit top gear since the international break. There is a two-point gap separating the top three clubs and fourth-placed Southampton could still make a large charge if they beat the Foxes in their game hand.

It is all set up for a grand-stand finish. Speaking on talkSPORT this week, ex-England international Murphy said: “If I had to choose one club to go up, it’d be Leeds. They’re a fabulous club.”

It is not the first time that Murphy has expressed his admiration for United this term. He heaped praise on manager Daniel Farke following their superb sequence of results in 2024 to reignite their top-two aspirations.

“The Premier League is better if Leeds are in it, honestly,” said Murphy. “As a player and a supporter, going there is an experience that you should enjoy and love.

“It is rammed every time you go there [Elland Road], they are really passionate about their team, and to go there as a player or fan, is a really good experience – better than others that are potentially coming up. As a football man, I want Leeds to go up.”
