EXCLUSIVE: Leeds United to reignite move to sign highly-rated Celtic Attacking Midfielder this summer if club wins promotion to Premier League

Leeds United are very much on course to win promotion back to the Premier League and could raid Celtic when they do.

Daniel Farke has got his Leeds team to the top of the Championship with eight games to go. If Leeds do win promotion, then they’ll need new signings and they reportedly have an eye on one of Celtic’s star men.

Celtic themselves are in a battle for the title. At the moment, they sit a point above Rangers but the Ibrox side have a game in hand on Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Regardless of if they win it or not, though, Celtic could still lose midfielder Matt O’Riley, with reports claiming Leeds are tempted to make an offer again for the player this summer after seeing their initial approach rebuffed by Celtic last summer.

Leeds could make move for Celtic midfielder

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Leeds could be in the market for O’Riley if they can seal promotion back to the Premier League.

Their report claims that despite having three years left on his current deal, Celtic could be tempted to cash in on him if the money is right from the Leeds end.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for Celtic ever since making the move to Scotland. This season, he’s played pretty much every game and has scored an impressive 11 goals from midfield.

Quite what sort of fee Celtic would demand from Leeds remains to be seen. But with goalscoring midfielders worth their weight in gold, it’s easy to see why Leeds might go for him.

Matt O’Riley would be ideal for Leeds if they go up. The Premier League is becoming a harder nut to crack than ever before for promoted teams.

But Leeds will be in a good position given they kept hold of some big players when they went down. Someone like Matt O’Riley would be a smart addition as well. He’s proven himself in Scotland now and Brendan Rodgers has lauded the 23-year-old for his ability as well.

“I like him a lot. I think he is a really intelligent footballer. He is a top professional. He prepares his body well and he prepares his life well. He wants to do well. He sets his standards high every day to be better,” Rodgers said.

Leeds fans, then, could be getting quite the player if they do decide to make their move.
