“He’s one of Forest’s better players but If he’s gone to the manager and expressed a desire to go then that’s it, then you’ve got to take him out”- Alan Rogers urges Forest to sanction sale of Orel Mangala after transfer report

Alan Rogers has suggested that Nottingham Forest would miss Orel Mangala if he was to leave the club this month.

The former Reds star has been speaking with the Red Side of the Trent podcast. Well, it would appear that the man who served Forest with distinction as a player is a big fan of Mangala.

However, his time could be up at the club amid reports that Mangala now has interest from Juventus and Napoli. Rogers believes that if Mangala is going to leave this month then it has to result in Forest getting money for a sale.

He told the Red Side of the Trent podcast: “He’s a good player, he is, I like him a lot. I will be honest, I’ve never looked at him and thought that he hasn’t got the pace to play in the Premier League and I do think he’s been one of Forest’s better players.

“But look if his head’s been turned, he’s basically gone and the best thing for Forest to do is let him go. I just can’t see Forest letting Mangala go on loan. I think because of financial fair play, Forest need to bring money in.

“If the player’s gone to the manager and expressed a desire to go then that’s it. If his head’s not at Forest then you’ve got to take him out

It’s a shame it’s come to this but a club like Forest will always be at the mercy of bigger clubs. Forest star Mangala has seemingly had his head turned by Serie A giants, whilst clubs from other countries are also watching the situation.

The 25-year-old would be sorely missed at Forest and he’s arguably been one of the team’s most consistent performers this season. Mangala has a better pass-success ratio than any other midfielder at Forest, according to Who Scored and it’s a risk to let him leave.

However, the club are quite well-stocked in the middle of the park and perhaps it’s one area they feel that a sale could help things.

If Forest are going to sanction a sale then they must ensure they get the very best deal and make a profit on the £12 million they paid Stuttgart to sign Mangala.
