EXCLUSIVE: Good news as Sky Sports journalist confirms Nottingham Forest set to win race to sign highly rated 26-yr-old star as player gives greenlight on move to City Ground in January

Nottingham Forest are set to win the race to sign the Brazilian defender Nino, with the player now keen to come to the club. An update has emerged today and it would appear that things are getting closer.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Eintracht Frankfurt were keen to sign him. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case the Copa Libertadores winner will head to Forest.

Nino won the silverware last month when Fluminense defeated Boca Juniors in the final of the competition. In the game after, he was responsible for getting a player sent off and he’s a player who knows all of the tricks.

According to  Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, Nino is now keen on signing for Forest in January. The player won’t be going anywhere until Fluminense have participated in the Club World Cup.

Nino has been with Fluminense since signing from Criciuma in 2019. He’s made 237 appearances for the club and will depart as the club captain when he leaves for Forest.

The report does claim that negotiations are currently ongoing between the two clubs. However, they are proving difficult with Fluminense valuing Nino higher than Forest want to pay.

It seems quite clear that the Reds will be going in search of another central defender. Murillo has had a brilliant impact since signing from Brazil and hopefully, Nino can do the same at Forest.

Forest have several options at the moment. On Saturday, Murillo played alongside Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly, with Felipe stepping off the bench.

Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna are also in place at the club. However, they could leave the club, with recent reports suggesting they’ve been banished from training.

Nino seems like an uncompromising defender and one who likes to win at all costs. That mentality can only serve Forest well in their fight against relegation and hopefully, a deal can be struck soon.
