EXCLUSIVE: On-loan Aston Villa star now wants to leave Villa Park in January following unhappiness and frustration over lack of game time under Unai Emery

On-loan Aston Villa star Clement Lenglet is keen to quit Villa Park in January after frustrations over a lack of playing time.

Lenglet, 28, joined the Villans on a season-long loan from Barcelona in the summer transfer window but he’s yet to play in the Premier League.

He has, however, started and completed 90 minutes in all five of the club’s Europa Conference League group-stage matches.

Spanish news outlet Sport reported that Bayern Munich are interested in a move for the France international ahead of the January transfer window.

It is understood that Barca want at least £8.5million for the Villa loanee, who is said to be uncomfortable in the West Midlands due to his lack of playing time.

As a result, Sport claims that Lenglet wants to terminate his loan deal in January and Aston Villa are open to allowing him to do that.

Lenglet’s spell at Villa Park hasn’t yielded as much game as the centre-back would have hoped due to Unai Emery having better options ahead of him in the pecking order.

With the January window closing in, Villa fans hope to see the club build on their already impressive business from the summer transfer window. However, the Villans may need to trim their squad to bring in significant additions, with several high earners not playing enough to earn their current wages.

Meanwhile, Sport in Spain claim that Villa are also willing to cut Lenglet’s season-long loan deal from Barcelona short amid interest in the Frenchman from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old has struggled to get into Emery’s starting lineup ahead of Diego Carlos, Ezri Konsa and Torres.
