“We love the Gaffer, nobody would be able to do what he’s achieved so we’re right behind him”- Harry Toffolo says Forest players wants Steve Cooper to remain in charge of club despite poor run of form
Harry Toffolo says that the Nottingham Forest squad “love” manager Steve Cooper amid claims that he is under pressure.
The left-back opened the scoring for Cooper’s team but it was not enough for all three points as Matheus Cunha’s equaliser ensured it ended all square. Saturday’s result at Molineux means that Forest have won just one of their last 12 matches.
However, Toffolo believes their performance against Gary O’Neil’s side showed the “togetherness” among the Reds squad after Wednesday’s 5-0 defeat at Fulham. He also shared how much he and his fellow players enjoy working with under-pressure manager Cooper.
“I think Wednesday we left the stadium embarrassed by that performance,” he told BBC Sport. “We know as professionals it shouldn’t have gone down like that.
“But it just shows the togetherness we’ve got with the manager and it comes right through all the way from the top, all the way to the players and I’m really glad for the manager today because he deserved that and it showed how much love he gets.
“We’ve just lost 5-0 away from home and to be able to put on a performance, a proper resilient performance, albeit we didn’t get the three points, but it’s a point in the right direction and we just wanna keep putting ourselves in those positions and point away from home is a great result.
“We love the Gaffer. He’s been a massive part of this football club for two years. What he’s done, not many people, if not, nobody would be able to do what he’s achieved so we’re with him, we’re right behind him. Long may it continue.
“I love working for him as do all the players and I think it showed today and a big, big respect as well to the owner for, for sticking by the manager and it just shows you how together this football club is and it’s heading in the right direction and it’s one that many people will want to be a part of.”
