“He is a goalscoring player, he can give you 10-14 goals every year from midfield, I can see him going to a top team, like Leeds”- John Hartson backs highly rated 24-yr-old Celtic star to secure a move to Leeds next year

John Hartson has backed Celtic midfielder David Turnbull to possibly secure a move to English Championship side, Leeds United.

Come next summer, there is every chance that Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are a Premier League team.

The Yorkshire outfit are currently sitting in the play-off places and hoping for an instant return to England’s top-flight.

Unless he signs a new contract, David Turnbull will become a free agent in 2024, with still uncertainty as to whether he will sign a new Celtic contract.

After previously dismissing David Turnbull moving to Italian giants AC Milan, John Hartson thinks it’s more likely that he joins a team like Leeds United, as he told Go Radio.

There were past suggestions that Leeds wanted Matt O’Riley, but it’s David Turnbull who was spoken about here.

David Turnbull to Leeds United?
I like David Turnbull,” said Hartson. “I have always said it, he is a goalscoring midfield player. He adds that 10-14 goals every year for you from midfield.

I can see him going to a top Championship team, like a Leeds United.

Maybe in January, maybe in the summer, but I think he’ll be a perfect player for them.”

Leeds United free-flowing under Daniel Farke
Given that Farke was appointed Leeds’ boss pretty late after the club’s relegation, then it’s pretty impressive given the job he is currently doing.

Not forgetting that, after the first game of the Championship season, he had a few players wanting out.

That summer transfer window, whilst it allowed the club to refresh the squad, didn’t help matters on or off the pitch.

But now that is far in the distance, Leeds are flying high and really pushing the Championship’s top-two – Leicester City and surprise packages, Ipswich Town.
