‘I feel very good, I have almost recovered and I have alot of desire to play for the team again”- Huge boost for Leeds as Key defender confirms he is now close to recovering from injury & returning to first team action
‘
Leeds United defender Junior Firpo has confirmed he is closing in on a return from injury. Firpo was speaking in an interview with Momento Deportivo RD where he provided an update on when he could return to action for the Whites.
The 27-year-old has been missing for the entirety of Daniel Farke’s reign so far having picked up a knee injury right at the beginning of pre-season.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano at the beginning of the window that Firpo had been expected to leave this summer but the nature of his injury has prevented him from earning a transfer. Leeds’ failure to sign an out-and-out left-back also means Firpo could have a large role to play this season, providing he can stay fit.
Firpo says he cannot wait to be back involved with the rest of the team again and is feeling ‘very good’ as he eyes a return to action for the first time under Farke.
He said: “Right now I feel very good, I am almost recovered from my last injury with a lot of desire to play with the team again.”
Aside from two or three players, Firpo will be playing with practically a new set of teammates upon his return to the side after 16 exits in the summer.
Firpo has a lot of work to do to get Leeds fans back on his side but him likely to have less defensive work to do in the Championship, he could well be a useful asset this season.
He briefly showed what he can be capable of under Javi Gracia in the second half of last term and hopefully the style of Farke will provide him with the platform to shine.
