BREAKING: West Ham reach full agreement with Manchester United to sign defender Harry Maguire for £30m, Official announcement imminent

West Ham have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign defender Harry Maguire.

The clubs agreed a deal worth £30m and personal terms between Maguire and the Hammers are not expected to be an issue.

West Ham are optimistic about their chances of completing the signing of the England international, though there is still final details that need to be sorted before the move ca be completed.

It would bring an end to his four-year stint at Old Trafford, after joining the club for a record £80m fee for a defender from Leicester City in 2019.

Maguire failed to live up to that price tag as he was dropped from the starting XI last season, before he was stripped of the captain’s armband this summer.

David Moyes is willing to offer Maguire a fresh start after his struggles over recent seasons
The Red Devils previously rejected a £20m move from the Hammers for Maguire, while David Moyes’ side have also expressed an interest in landing his United team mate Scott McTominay.

Mail Sport previously reported that Maguire hoped to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford, despite regularly having to contend with a place on the bench last season behind Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and even left-back Luke Shaw.

Maguire endured a poor 2021-22 season at Old Trafford, which carried on to the start of Erik ten Hag’s regime at the club in the most recent campaign.

After poor opening showings against Brighton and Brentford in the first two games of last season, he would only go on to make an additional six Premier League starts throughout the rest of the campaign.

Despite looking devoid of confidence at Old Trafford, he has continued to impress for England where he is trusted by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

Southgate though has admitted that his loyalty to Maguire will be difficult to maintain if he continues to remain on the sidelines at Old Trafford. A move to West Ham would be beneficial for his long-term England prospects and allow him to revitalise his career.
