REPORT: 49ers identify Four key players they want to retain for the 2023/24 season as Whites new owners eye immediate return to the Premier League next year

Leeds United and the 49ers Enterprises are hoping that they can hold onto some of the club’s key stars this summer, including Willy Gnonto and Tyler Adams.

The Whites face a significant test of their strength to keep hold of their important players as the Championship season looms in August.

Leeds kick off with a home clash against Cardiff City, and it remains unclear who is going to be featuring and who will leave the club before then.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has shared an update on Leeds’ chances of keeping hold of Willy Gnonto this summer.

No bids have been lodged for the Italian international, while no “expressions of interest” have even been made clear to the club this month.

He is one of a handful of players that Leeds, guided by the 49ers Enterprises, are eager to keep hold of this summer, as Smyth writes:

“Gnonto is among those identified as key players for the upcoming Championship season, by incoming owners 49ers Enterprises.

“The Italian, along with Tyler Adams and Jack Harrison, were always likely to be the subject of transfer speculation but 49ers Enterprises hope to be able to convince them to stay this summer.

“Max Wober is another viewed as a key player.”

If Leeds kept these four players in the EFL, it would be a real statement of intent, but it’s just hard to see it happening.

Out of the four, Gnonto and Wöber look like the two that could actually stay, but Adams and Harrison are surely leaving.

Both of those two looked like actually good Premier League players in the midst of our shocking performances.
