Exclusive: Leicester City now preparing move to sign experienced 10-cap England defender this summer with Maresca keen to bring player to King Power stadium as he eyes swift PL return

Leicester City are keen on Wolves defender Conor Coady, according to a report, as the 30 year old’s future remains uncertain ahead of the new season.

The England international spent last season on loan at Everton but they decided against triggering an option in the deal to sign him permanently for £4.5m, meaning he is due to report back to Wolves for the start of pre season in a fortnight.

Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest have both been linked with the defender, who has two years left on his contract at Molineux. But TEAMtalk say Leicester are also keen as they rebuild after relegation from the Premier League in May. They say: “Relegated Leicester City are eyeing a move for Wolves defender Conor Coady as they plot an immediate return to the Premier League.”

The Foxes are on the lookout for new signings after coming up short in defence following the exit of Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey coupled with the uncertainty surrounding the futures of players such as Wout Faes and Johnny Evans.

New Leicester boss Enzo Maresca is keen to shore up his Centre back options and have reportedly made Coady a top target for the club.

Wolves are reported to be open to offers for the 30-year-old as he returns to the club following his time at Everton, with the Toffees choosing not to activate a permanent option in their loan deal, which would have cost them £4.5 million

The player is also open to a move away from the Molineux amidst high competition for places at the club under Julen Lopetegui although Leicester face a tough battle for his signature with the player having also attracted interest from Premier League clubs such as Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.
