Exclusive: 49ers set to make critical decision on Leeds new manager next week with Daniel Farke, Carlos Corberan and Scott Parker currently the Three leading Candalidates to take over at Elland Road
Leeds United look set to make a decision on their managerial hunt, with final interviews set to take place next week and this is a decision that could make-or-break the immediate future of the Whites.
Following the conclusion of the full takeover from the American investors 49ers Enterprises at Elland Road, attention has been placed on a crucial element of the Leeds rebuild, which is in the Elland Road dugout.
The Whites have been linked with a number of names as their search for a new appointment goes on, with former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke, West Brom coach Carlos Corberan and former Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker all currently targets for the vacant role.
Recently sacked Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers was also said to be a name in the frame for the vacant position but has rejected the opportunity with a return to his former club Celtic said to be edging closer.
However, the aforementioned three names are reportedly the American owners’ top candidates for the role, according to Football League World who reported on 12 June, that the interview process has already started with Farke and Corberan all said to be the leading 49ers targets.
And according to journalist Phil Hay, taking to his personal Twitter account, provided an update on the crucial situation at Elland Road.
He tweeted: “Looking like the process to appoint will run into next week, with final interviews planned on the other side of the weekend. First group of players are due back for pre-season on July 2.”
Leeds United are indeed set for an incredibly pivotal and intriguing week ahead as they look to rebuild again ahead of another Championship ride next season, and it is absolutely imperative the club gets this next decision right.
The Whites have been guilty of desperate decisions in the not-so-distant past when calling on Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce to get them out of trouble, but ultimately ending in relegation disaster.
Also, former sporting director Victor Orta and exit-bound owner Andrea Radrizzani were absolutely key to the Jesse Marsch debacle before those decisions which is why new full owners, the 49ers Enterprises ensure that they thoroughly and critically plan out their next steps as the Sky Bet Championship indeed a gruelling and unforgiving division.
Several names for the managerial vacancy have propped up in recent days and the names being sounded out are ones which potentially give the Whites the best chance of a swift promotion.
The Whites desperately need a manager who has been there and done it before, and Farke and Parker are superb candidates for the role, given their experience and penchant for attractive football.
Farke is a superb proposition given his Championship-winning experience with Norwich City at this level and his knack for an attractive and expansive brand for football. And his failure with Norwich City in the Premier League was of no fault of his own given the lack of resources available to him at Carrow Road.
Should he get the job at Elland Road, he’d have a plethora of resources and quality to build Leeds United from the ground up again, the same can be said for Parker too.
Corberan because of his former experience with the club under Marcelo Bielsa, will always win the hearts of those within the club and his tremendous jobs at Huddersfield Town and West Brom will have left the Elland Road hierarchy drooling.
And a decision to appoint the Spaniard may prove for him a third-time lucky charm after only just missing out on promotion at West Brom and former club Huddersfield, imagine the job he could do at Elland Road.
Whoever the 49ers choose in the coming week or so will be absolutely crucial to their Championship campaign and beyond. The Leeds United faithful will be keeping their eyes peeled for developments, but the 49ers must ensure the mistakes and desperate decisions of the past are no more.
In other Leeds United news, doubts have emerged within the 49ers investment group over whether the Whites’ buy-out is the right move.
