Exclusive: Nottingham Forest now weighing up move to sign highly rated Leeds United midfielder this summer with player keen to join Steve Cooper’s side

Nottingham Forest are weighing up a move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams this summer. The Reds added 30 new players at various stages of last season and quality over quantity will be the order of the day this time around.

Adams could be one of several big names to leave Elland Road this summer, according to the Daily Mail. The American midfielder craves Premier League football and following relegation for Leeds, it promises to be a summer of upheaval.

The Whites signed Adams from RB Leipzig just 12 months ago. He has made quite an impact at Leeds and made 26 appearances for the club in all competitions during the 2022/23 campaign.

Adams has claimed 36 caps for the United States and he starred at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year. It’s not clear at this stage whether Leeds would be willing to sell him but they could have little choice.

Adams would surely jump at the chance to join Forest. He will be desperate to stay in the Premier League and is unlikely to fancy a season of Championship action with Leeds next season.

This would be an excellent move by the Reds. Furthermore, it’s a transfer that makes sense and also is a deal that would unlikely break the bank from a Forest perspective.

Adams earns around £57,000-a-week at Leeds and that wage is unlikely to deter Forest. The Reds will show some ambition this summer as they bid to avoid a relegation battle this time around.

Forest do have a number of midfield options. Ryan Yates, Danilo and Orel Mangala finished the season in possession of the shirts; with Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouytate providing the competition.

Adams would perhaps bring something a little bit different to the ranks at Forest. He’s a decent ball-carrier and he also has a very decent array of passing to bring to the City Ground table.

Rumour rating: 9/10 – Although Leeds have just been relegated, it’s fair to say that Adams is still an exciting proposition for Fores to consider.

At 24-years-old he has bags of time on his side and he would fit into the ethos of a signing that Steve Cooper would typically make.
