“I think he should go to Newcastle”- TalkSport pundit Ruddock urges Newcastle should sign Harry Kane this summer as he makes cheeky Alan Shearer point

There are many reasons why Harry Kane should sign for Newcastle United.

It would give Kane a chance to join an ambitious club where he is much more likely to end his trophy drought compared to Tottenham Hotspur.

It would give him the chance to play in the Champions League, which is something he can’t do next season at Tottenham.

And he could continue his bid to become the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer at the stadium where the current record holder called home for so many years.

The latter is why former defender Neil Ruddock thinks Kane should swap Tottenham for Newcastle, but his reasoning is incredible.

Ruddock has appeared on TalkSPORT where he spoke about Kane’s future. He explained why he thinks the striker should sign for Newcastle, and his reasoning is hilarious.

“I think he should go to Newcastle,” he said.

“Newcastle, in four years are going to be the new Man City. And I love Alan Shearer, we’re very very close me and Alan Shearer.

“I want him to go to Newcastle, break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record and then win something with Newcastle. And then Alan Shearer will be forever forgotten. Alan who?

“Shearer’s been too famous, too good forever. Get rid of him. He’s boring on telly, he’s boring in real life. Harry Kane is a nice man. Go to Newcastle. Beat Alan Shearer’s record and win something that Alan Shearer didn’t at Newcastle.”

Ruddock then adds that Shearer is one of his ‘besties’. What a way to talk about your close friend.

Tim Sherwood recently suggested that Kane should join Newcastle because he would turn Eddie Howe’s side into title contenders. That certainly could be the case, as he is a world class centre-forward.

However, the Magpies are probably not looking to challenge for the title just yet. The current aim will be to solidify ourselves in the top four and repeat this season’s achievement.

But for Ruddock to want Kane at Newcastle just to spite his close friend Shearer is

incredible. It’s a very blokey thing to want – but he is not ashamed of the fact he wants to see his talented mate lose the accolades he has.

Kane is certainly well placed to become the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer. And there would be something special about seeing him do it in a Newcastle shirt.

But if Shearer had his way, he would ensure Newcastle sign him and then pester Eddie Howe to leave him on the bench every week.
