“Everyone knows how important this fixture is, We need to start winning games and that starts against Wolves ” – Dean Smith and Harry Souttar stresses on importance of must win clash Vs Wolves

Dean Smith and Harry Souttar has spoken out on the importance of the Foxes Clash against Wolves on Saturday evening.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – another team who have been embroiled in a fight for survival near the foot of the table – are the visitors to King Power Stadium on Saturday for a 3pm kick-off. It’s a game which carries major significance.

Positioned inside the relegation zone with seven games remaining this term, the priority is clear for the Foxes, as Souttar explained when taking time out from pre-match preparations to sit down with LCFC TV.

“It’s a massive next three games,” the centre-back said, at LCFC Training Ground. “Not only for us the players but for the fans, for the backroom staff and for the Club itself. We know how important it is and we’re doing everything we can to stay in the division.

“We know it’s not been a good enough season from everybody, but we are in this position and it’s our responsibility and our job to get us out of it. You see some teams winning and moving three or four places up the table.

“But I’ve said many times before, it’s all about taking it a game at a time – that’s all we can do. We can’t look to anybody else losing, we’ve got to focus on ourselves and what we’re doing because we need to put points on the board now.

“We need to start winning games, it’s as simple as that, and that starts on Saturday against Wolves.”

Leicester interim head coach Dean Smith also stressed the importance of Saturday’s clash against Wolves as he urged his side to get rid of any fear .

“We can’t play with any fear,” said the former Aston Villa boss, having lost his opening game 3-1 at Manchester City after replacing Brendan Rodgers until the end of the season. “We’ve looked at the quality we have on the training ground, we haven’t brought that onto the pitch over the last eight or nine games.

“What I saw against Bournemouth (a 1-0 defeat) was a lethargy. We need to be free and play with confidence. We’re taking it one game at a time, we knew the Man City game was going to be a unique one, given the level they are at compared to pretty much everyone else.

“Everyone knows how important this fixture is, hopefully we get to see a lift from the players and we can start how we finished at Manchester City. You’re not going to be defined on that (game). The games which are coming up – we can only look at Wolves to start with. Our results at home haven’t been where they should be.”
