Neil Redfearn was left astounded at the performance of one of Leeds United’s new signings in the 2-0 win over Hull City.

Leeds head into the first international break of the season with back-to-back victories thanks to goals from Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe. Aside from a couple of half-chances on the break, Leeds looked pretty comfortable throughout the 90 minutes

Daniel Farke named three of his four new signings in the squad for the clash at Elland Road after a busy last week or so in the window.

Largie Ramazani and Ao Tanaka were both introduced as second half substitutes, while Solomon was handed a full debut in the absence of Dan James. And it did not take Solomon to show what he was all about, with his assist for Joseph capping a fine first appearance in which he looked sharp from the start.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds post-match, former Whites boss Neil Redfearn says it was evident very quickly Solomon is a cut above the Championship.

He said: “We have actually seen the majority of the new signings today. I thought Manor Solomon was probably the man of the match to be honest. What a player! He’s got a quality that is better than this level, you can obviously see that.

“Initially in the first 20 minutes it was like tackling smoke. He was unplayable at times. All those messages are good messages.”

Tanaka and Ramazani both looked very bright off the bench, but it was Solomon who certainly deserved his reception at full-time. With Dan James ruled out due to a hamstring injury, the opportunity was always going to be there for one of Solomon or Ramazani to be handed a first start.

Daniel Farke opted to go for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Solomon ahead of the former UD Almeria man and it would be fair to say his decision was justified. Solomon was arguably Leeds’ best player on the day and it was his moment of magic down the left that set Mateo Joseph up for his first of the season.

Ramazani was then brought on with around 20 minutes to play and looked unbelievably quick, with Tanaka following in the final five to help see out the game.
