The two summer signings have both missed the last couple of matches, the 3-0 Carabao Cup win against Cheltenham Town and the 1-1 Championship draw with Hull City
Iceland international defender Victor Palsson is set to miss at least another couple of matches for Plymouth Argyle after being ruled out of the last two games by a hamstring injury.
The 33-year-old, who signed for the Pilgrims from Belgian club Eupen last month, started at right-back in the season-opening 4-0 Championship defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. However, he has not been in the squad for the 3-0 Carabao Cup first round win against Cheltenham Town last Wednesday and the 1-1 league draw with Hull on Saturday.
It has been the same for Nigerian striker Muhamed Tijani, the loan signing from Czech side Slavia Prague, who played against Wednesday but has been ruled out for the visits of Cheltenham and Hull.
Head coach Wayne Rooney said: “Victor will be back after the international break, or maybe the game before. He has just had a little issue with his hamstring, and TJ will hopefully try to train on Monday, Tuesday. He has had a knock as well.”
Argyle’s last game before the first of four international breaks this season will be at home to Steven Schumacher’s Stoke City on Saturday, August 31. They will then return to action a fortnight later when Sunderland are the visitors on September 14.
Club captain Joe Edwards has played at right-back in the last two matches and impressed Rooney with his performances, while Palsson has been sidelined, while Ryan Hardie has led the attack instead of Tijani.
Rooney said: “It happens, players get injuries. It’s important now they get the treatment right and get back as soon as they can, when they are ready, but that’s why we have the squad.
“Joe has come in the last couple of games and done really well so we have got options. We have got options now in more or less every position, probably bar the goalkeeper one. That’s the priority and we will get working on that over the next 24-48 hours and hopefully have someone in as soon as possible.”
